Brevard district added to the National Register |

"Thirty-one properties and districts across the state, including the East Main Street Historic District immediately southeast of downtown Brevard, have been added to the National Register of Historic Places, the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources announced this week.
Brevard saw most of its growth during the first two decades of the 20th century and the post-WWII period due both to its reputation as a tourist destination and industrial development taking place in the area. The predominantly residential historic district displays a wide-ranging mix of nationally popular architectural styles common to late 19th- and 20th-century neighborhoods in the state."
