Local architect Keith Hargrove is designing a major addition to one of Asheville's most prominent and recognizable buildings, the Buncombe County courthouse, and he hopes it gets little notice.  The addition will contain elevators, bathrooms, stairwells and a new courthouse entrance, all attached to the back of the building's first eight stories. The construction cost was estimated last year at $21.8 million.  Hargrove said he and fellow architect John Duncan want to "not blast in there with some obtrusive design. We're trying to be quiet about it.
