| Builder's descendant buys part of Orton Plantation |

Orton Plantation, a state landmark in Brunswick County, now has a new owner after being sold by the Laurence Sprunt family after owning it for 126 years. The buyer is Louis Moore Bacon, a direct descendant of Roger Moore who built the original Orton home in 1725. Bacon intends to renovate Orton's historic plantation house and gardens.
