Henderson's First United Methodist Church, the Daily Dispatch office, Vance County Middle School, the P. H. Rose Building and Rose's 5-10-25 Store may not seem to have much in common. But one thing they share: They all sprang from the mind, eye and drafting board of one man - Eric G. Flannagan. Flannagan was an architect and engineer who practiced most of his life in North Carolina and, in particular, Henderson. His creations are landmarks in many communities in North Carolina and Virginia, whether it is the Temple Theater in Sanford, half a dozen county hospitals (including Granville) or the library and dormitories he designed for East Carolina University.
