East Durham to Receive $1 Million |

"The A.J. Fletcher Foundation is investing more than $1 million in the children and families of East Durham.
Grants and loans will go to the East Durham Children's Initiative, Healthy Families Durham, Student U, Preservation North Carolina and Teach for America. All of the groups assist families in the East Durham community, an area that for decades has had high rates of crime, teen pregnancy, drug abuse and child neglect.
Michael Goodmon, who spearheads Durham initiatives for the Fletcher Foundation, said his organization fell in love with this plan because it is so focused on changing lives in a single concentrated area."
