Elon's past finds a place in its future

"It isn't every day a history professor has the opportunity to uncover a piece of local history, but for retired Elon professor Carole Troxler, it happened. While researching for her book, "Shuttle & Plow: A History of Alamance County, North Carolina," co-authored with William Vincent, Troxler discovered the mysterious two-room wooden building known as the Cable School. The building  pre-dates the Civil War and was one of North Carolina's first public school facilities. They were known as common schools."
