Historic
Wilmington Foundation is looking for the few, the talented, and the motivated to be Tar Heels Guides! Join Today!
Tar Heels Go Walking is a tour for 3rd graders to come to
the city of Wilmington to learn about its history and historic preservation
from September to January. Last fall, almost 2,500 third graders and their
teachers and parent volunteers toured downtown Wilmington and learned about its
history.
Historic
Wilmington Foundation is currently seeking enthusiastic
volunteers to be Tar Heels Go Walking guides. New volunteers must be able to
participate in six hours of training in August and early September and then be
able to commit to two to four tours over the period from early September through the
end of January. Tours last from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. for the schools in 2010-2011. The
orientation will include two or three classroom meetings at the Foundation in the
early evening (5:30–6:30 p.m. most likely) and a practice tour.
