Up until about 12 years ago, Gregory Tyler was like a lot of North Carolina residents. She would drive absent-mindedly past older buildings, only occasionally asking herself what the well-worn and sometimes half destructed structures had once been.  But that all changed in 1998, when learning about Rosenwald Schools in a historic preservation class caused her to look at her hometown of Bertie County a little differently.
