The George Poland House is a mid-century masterpiece by architect George Matsumoto who taught at NC State University's School of Design in the 1950s and 1960s.
When Dr. Poland's heirs donated the house to Preservation NC in 2001, it was endangered by a road-widening project in Raleigh. PNC sold the house with protective covenants in 2002 and it was moved to a new, appropriate site in Durham County and completely renovated.
