Blandwood, home of John Motley Morehead is a National Historic Landmark located in the heart of downtown Greensboro.
![]() Blandwood, Greensboro NC The original two-story farmhouse was constructed on the site in 1795, before the founding of Greensboro (1808), and was expanded in the 1820s. In 1844, nationally renowned architect Alexander Jackson Davis designed a prototype Italianate style villa for Governor Morehead. This addition, completed in 1846, is considered the oldest standing example of Italianate architecture in the United States. Blandwood is open for guided tours, Tuesday through Sunday.
