Location: American Tobacco Campus, Bay 7; 324 Blackwell Street; Durham, N.C. 27701 Linda A. Carlisle, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, and Jim Goodmon, President and CEO of Capitol Broadcasting Company and chair of the SmART Initiative Task Force, will release a report and recommendations. The SmART Initiative is a program that maps out ways for communities to use the arts to boost jobs, quality of life and overall economic growth. Additionally, guidelines for applying for pilot projects will be available. Several of the Task Force members — civic and government leaders, private developers and arts leaders — will also be on hand after the announcement to talk with you informally about their first-hand experiences using the arts for economic development.
