For decades, children have flocked to the Horace Williams House the Saturday before Easter to hunt for eggs and meet the Easter Bunny.

The tradition continues as Preservation Chapel Hill presents the 2013 Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30th.

Participants may arrive at 9:30 to scout out the lawn before the hunt begins at 10:00 for children under 4 on the front lawn and at 10:15 for children 5-7 on the side lawn. Families are encouraged to bring their own baskets for collecting eggs.

After the hunt, children may play Bunny Bingo, egg races, sack races, and other games to win prizes. There will also be representatives from the Chapel Hill Fire Department, bee keepers, face painters, Kidzu, and more.

"We really enjoy putting on the Easter Egg Hunt each year," says Cheri Szcodronski, Executive Director of Preservation Chapel Hill. "We get to interact with potential young preservationists by inviting them to have fun at a historic site. That is the best way to instill a strong sense of place in children and teach them about why preservation is important."
