The Joel Lane Museum House Presents Lizzie Lane's Colonial Tea.

Location:  160 S. Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC  (at the corner of Hargett), which is two blocks south of Hillsborough St., not far from downtown.

Admission is: $30.00 for Adults, $20.00 for children 12 and under for the public; for members of the Joel Lane Historical Society: $25 adults, $15 children 12 and under; minimum age 5 years. Advanced purchase is required, and the event sold out early last year so don't delay purchasing tickets.

At the tea, in the beautiful "colonial" gardens at the Joel Lane Museum House, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and granddaughters will learn the etiquette of taking tea and cakes in colonial times. After tea, they will have a chance to participate in early American crafts, games, and dancing. Henry Goodman, fiddler, will provide live music.

As they sip on tea or lemonade and eat either 18th-century style or modern cakes, participants will learn the history of tea and how colonial people took their tea. After tea, the girls can play games like graces, dance the Virginia reel, make a rag doll, decorate a paper fan, and "tin" punch a Christmas ornament.  Generous corporate sponsors include:  Costco, Ginny O's, The Pound Cake Co., and Teagschwender.
