Mount Airy Board Gives House Second Chance

The town's board of commissioners voted to give Preservation NC an option to sell a 1920s bungalow at 305 Cherry Street. Some have wanted the house, a contributing structure in the historic district, torn down to make way for a parking lot.

Neighbors Trying to Avert Demolitions in Durham

Residents of the Morehead Hill historic district are circulating a petition to protest Healthy Start Academy's plan to knock down two 1910 homes. A city historic commission hearing today might decide whether the houses get a demolition delay.
