This Old House calls it one of the Best Places for an old house—you can call it home. Preservation NC has several distinct properties for sale in Downtown Goldsboro, selected by the national magazine as one of the Best Places to Get a Bargain on an Old House and Best Places in the South to Buy an Old House. Sounds like the rest of the world is starting to catch up with Goldboro. You can also see one of the available Goldsboro properties, the 1901 Molly Smith Thompson House, featured in Antique Trader Magazine. This house won't be available for long.
PNC has partnered with the City of Goldsboro, the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation, and Self-Help Credit Union to revitalize several neighborhoods in downtown Goldsboro. The neighborhoods will be transformed into a blend of residential historic structures and new homes that will include historic architectural details. Homes range in size from 1,100 to 6,400 square feet and consist of a variety of architectural styles including Queen Anne, Victorian, and Italianate. As contributing properties to the Goldsboro National Register district, all these properties are eligible for historic preservation tax credits. The unique historic district includes residential and commercial structures within a rapidly transforming downtown. Goldsboro is located 55 miles east of Raleigh/Durham and is a comfortable population of 39,000 residents. Goldsboro is also the governmental seat of Wayne County and home to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
