Wilmington – Azalea Festival Garden Tour

Come enjoy Southern hospitality amid the vibrant color of azaleas and spring flowers during the 64th Annual Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour© in the beautiful coastal community of Wilmington, North Carolina. An official event of the North Carolina Azalea Festival, the tour is one of the longest running and most popular garden tours in the South.

The tour will open Friday April 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM with the spectacular Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the gracious home of Carole and Richard Johnson on Masonboro Sound Road. The parade of the 2017 Azalea Belles© accompanied by the Citadel Summerall Guards is the highlight of this ceremony along with the introduction of the North Carolina Azalea Festival Queen & North Carolina Azalea Festival celebrities and entourage.   After the ceremony enjoy the reception where members of the Cape Fear Garden Club will serve punch and homemade cookies on the sweeping lawn with beautiful views of the waterway.  NOTE: On Friday morning, there will be free roundtrip bus service beginning at 8:30am at Southside Baptist Church, 3320 South College Road. Buses run until noon. No parking is available at the ribbon cutting site until after the ceremony.

Throughout the weekend you will see Plein air artists in many of the gardens, and new this year music and garden seminars will be presented each day in various gardens. Speakers are Amy Coker of Encore Azalea ®, George Hartner of Outdoor Illumination, Tracy McCullen of Signature Gardens and Pools and Drew Thorndyke of Cape Fear Water Gardens.

The Bellamy Mansion garden is one of the 12 gardens on the tour. Please join the Azalea Belles for iced tea and cookies on the Bellamy porch on Saturday afternoon, from noon to 2pm.
