Sponsor the 2017 Annual Conference

Thank you for your interest in sponsoring the Preservation NC annual conference! The conference is an opportunity for a diverse group of North Carolinians to come together to learn how historic preservation can be used to enhance quality of life and promote sustainable economic development. Each year Preservation NC travels to a different North Carolina town or city for its conference.

We expect about 400 participants will join us in Charlotte to learn more about historic preservation. This year’s conference theme is Not Your Grandmother’s Preservation. Our keynote speakers will explore thought-provoking new trends in preservation.  Self-described museum anarchist Franklin Vagnone, author of Twisted Preservation and new President of Old Salem, will offer a wry, rule-breaking perspective about the house museum of the future.  Briana Grosicki, Director of Research for Place Economics, will discuss how rural counties and small towns that are losing population might learn from how Rust Belt cities are “Rightsizing.”

Conference activities will include a variety of educational workshops and activities with something for everyone, from owners of historic properties to commission members to developers, architects, and other professionals in the field.  Education sessions will include designing projects for Millennials, mapping the state’s Freedmen’s villages, how to sustainably renovate your old house, a commissions’ track on evaluating the use of new building materials in historic districts, tax credits, and more.

To party, we’ll go to hip NoDa and the acclaimed McColl Center for Art + Innovation, where artists work in a formerly burned-out stone church.  Most sessions will be held at Spirit Square, a former church that’s been adapted as a modern performance venue.

Your sponsorship gift will assist us in providing an exciting and stimulating conference, while keeping it affordable for participants.  In return, PNC will publicize your sponsorship in our conference materials and online. View our downloadable listing of sponsorship opportunities, levels and benefits here: 2017 Conf Sponsorship Levels.
