The ca. 1906 Briggs House is believed to have been built for the family of Fabius Briggs, Jr. The house has had a colorful history and was mostly recently used for artist studios. It is currently unoccupied and suffering from deferred maintenance and water damage. However, many of the house's beautiful details survive, including paneled wainscotting, elegant central stair, 8 unique tiled mantles, original wood windows and floors.

The house -- currently located at the corner of Hillsborough Street and Ashe Ave. -- must be moved to a new site to save it from demolition. The house will be moved separately from the commercial building to which it is attached.
