Please join us for a special event screening of documentary film The Real Mayberry on Monday, September 11th at 7:30 pm at Silverspot Cinema in Chapel Hill. There will be a Q&A with the filmmaker, Bill Hayes, immediately following the screening.
Bill Hayes, president and founder of Figure 8 Films and Thunder Mountain Media, produced and directed the film. He has produced over 1,000 non-fiction television shows for TLC, Discovery, UP, DIY and other networks. Both companies are located in Carrboro, NC.
The Real Mayberry is about Bill’s hometown of Mount Airy, NC. What started as a story about Andy Griffith’s hometown became a film about the challenges and future of small town America. The film includes clips from “The Andy Griffith Show.” The film is also a story about the success of historic preservation, and Gene Rees, who has restored many of the historic buildings in Mt. Airy, is the film’s central subject.
