History for Lunch: Kadesh Church – A Phoenix Rising

Wednesday, January 3 2024
12:00 – 1:00pm

Museum of the Albemarle
(501 South Water Street, Elizabeth City)

Join Dawson Tyler and Don Herr of Down East Preservation as they discuss the comeback story of the Kadesh A.M.E. Zion Church on East Gale Street in Edenton, including the important place that the church occupies in Edenton’s history and how the church came to be restored.

They will provide a deep look into the restoration of the church’s impressive stained glass and how these windows will once again find their way back to the East Gale Street after the devastation of Hurricane Isabel. They will also look to the future of the church’s role in Edenton with Sadie Riddick, member of the Kadesh congregation and chair of its restoration committee.
