Join Olde Towne Louisburg/Louisburg Historic District for their second Sip & Stroll with Souls!

This is a walking tour of the historic grounds as they discuss the cemetery’s history, famous (and, not so famous) people that are buried right here and the impact that they had on the small town of Louisburg, North Carolina and, beyond! Select graves will have docents dressed in period attire to tell you the story of the individuals that are entombed at the gravesites. Other hosts on the tour will talk to you about their family members who are buried in the historic section of Oakwood.

Registration will be online only, where donations can be made. We will be set up in the back of the old section of the cemetery under an awning courtesy of Strickland Funeral Home of Louisburg. All proceeds will be go to the Louisburg Historic District, Inc., 501(c)(3) with their efforts to preserve and restore the historic grounds and gravesites of our Oakwood Cemetery.

You can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine (or a bottled water!) as a ‘thank you’ for your $10 (or more!) donation to the Historic Oakwood Cemetery. They’ll also have ‘treats’ for those attending to snack on! You will be able to hear the stories and history of the cemetery and learn about its significance to our community and why these hallowed grounds are not only important to our local history, but to America’s History!

*Please note that the Historic Oakwood Cemetery will have a portable restroom for use during the tour!!*

They will have volunteers to assist you with parking. The main entry to the old section of Oakwood Cemetery will be closed off for the walking tour times for attendees to use the gravel roadbeds as a walking path.
