Rescued! Buyer’s Spotlight: S.Carter Williams owners Keith and Laura Pack
Keith and Laura Pack are the proud new owners of the S. Carter Williams House in Yadkinville as of April 16. They are both from Yadkinville and have loved the house for years. In fact, they tried to buy the house about 10 years ago but at time the previous owners were not ready to sell. When the house went up for sale through Preservation NC they were very excited.
Keith works just outside the back door of the house at Indira Mills, where they manufacture thermal underwear. Laura is a 9-12 grade Literature teacher at Yadkin Early College High School. She is very involved with tourism promotion of Yadkin County, having written numerous articles for local travel magazines. She is also an avid antique furniture enthusiast and she and her mother run an antique shop in Fancy Gap, Virginia. The Packs plan to fill the Williams House with many fine pieces. The couple has two children who are looking forward to helping with the rehab and are currently picking their rooms!
Within the first week in their new home, the old roof was torn off and a new roof installed, a front dormer that was removed in the 1990’s was rebuilt with the original window, all of the sheet rock was torn out to expose the original bead board and some plank walls. The plumbing rough-ins have been completed on the first floor, and the kitchen has been painted and cabinets are ready for installation. The kitchen flooring is also almost complete and the entire exterior of the house has been prepped for painting. Keith says that they have stopped counting the number of folks who have stopped by to look in and reminisce about the house. It is already creating good will throughout the town.
Congratulations Keith and Laura!
