Magnolia’s 75th Anniversary Heritage Soiree

Friday September 26
6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

This September, we’re thrilled to personally invite you to a once-in-a-generation celebration at a place where history lives and community thrives — The Historic Magnolia House!

As one of the last remaining and actively operating Green Book sites in North Carolina — 1 of fewer than 4 out of over 320 Green Book sites in the state of North Carolina — Magnolia House (She/Her) stands as a powerful reminder of Black resilience, hospitality, and cultural excellence. During the segregation era, we were a sanctuary for legends like Miles Davis, Carter G. Woodson, Sam Cooke, Lena Horne, Duke Ellington’s Band, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, James Brown, Jackie Robinson, James Baldwin, Count Basie, Ike & Tina Turner — and so many more. Today, Magnolia House is not only fully restored to her 1949 glory, but also reimagined as a vibrant historic hotel, restaurant, living museum, and gathering place for the community. And this year, she turns 75 years old as a Green Book site— and we want YOU to be part of this beautiful milestone.

Please join us Friday, September 26 at 7:00 PM (Doors open at 6:30 PM) for the Magnolia House 75th Juke Joint Soirée & Awards Celebration!

Let’s honor the legacy, joy, and safe space Magnolia House has created for 75 years, and toast to the future ahead.

A Few Highlights Worth Celebrating:

  • Listed on the National Register of Historic Places
  • Named a “Distinctive Destination” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation
  • Starred in six editions of The Negro Travelers’ Green Book
  • 2023 BizX Minority-Owned Business of the Year – North America
  • Three-time Heinz/Lee Black Historic Kitchen Awardee (2022, 2023, 2024)
  • Two-time (and current nominee) USA Today Top 10 Best Bed & Breakfast in the U.S (2022, 2023)

So grab your friends, colleagues, and family, and come celebrate 75 years of history, soul, and safe haven. Magnolia is ready — let’s do this!
