Presentation by Myrick Howard at Cleveland Restoration Society

Cleveland, OH
Wednesday July 19
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Myrick Howard has been president of Preservation North Carolina, one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious statewide preservation organizations, since 1978.

Through its award-winning Endangered Properties Program, Preservation North Carolina acquires endangered historic properties and then finds purchasers willing and able to rehabilitate them. The organization has saved more than 850 endangered historic properties — many of them landmarks — generating more than $350 million in private investment.

A fully revised and redesigned second edition of Mr. Howard’s book, “Buying Time for Heritage: How to Save an Endangered Historic Property” is due out in the fall. The book includes detailed projects to renovate vacant houses in working-class neighborhoods; reflections on addressing racial equity through preservation; an expanded section on using preservation easements and summaries of revolving fund programs around the country.

Come hear Myrick’s reflections on a 45-year career spent in historic preservation. Reception will follow.
