Shelter Series Bio: Stephanie Dauway

Stephanie Dauway is the granddaughter of Henderson and Lucy Gray Godette. She was born and raised in White Plains, New York however, Stephanie spent many summers and holidays at the Godette Hotel. She fondly remembers her grandmother cooking meals in the big kitchen and playing with her cousins on the piccolo near the bar. For Stephanie, the building was not the Godette Hotel, it was her grandparent’s house.

For the past few years, Stephanie and other members of the Godette family have worked tirelessly to save the Godette Hotel. With the help of Preservation North Carolina, the family has successfully stopped a planned demolition by the Town of Beaufort.

On a professional level, Stephanie Dauway is an influential leader with over 15 years of leadership experience. She represented one of the largest private universities in the country as Campus Director for University of Phoenix Columbia Campus and currently serves in a leadership role for Bank of America.

In 2011, Stephanie was honored to be named to the 2011 class of Greenville First’s Best & Brightest 35 and under. This Greenville Business Magazine program was created to honor South Carolina’s young leaders for their professional and community contributions. She received public recognition for her character, charitable efforts, and workplace successes.

Stephanie earned an MBA with a concentration in marketing from University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

At home, Stephanie is a loving wife to Stephen and a proud mother to two sons, Jaylen and Christian.
